help with cdh dilution please

OK what I see is you have 36.2% HCl and we want 4%

by entering 1 in 1st field, 36.2 in next field, 4% in 3rd, press calculate we get 9.05L of 4% HCl by adding the contents of your bottle to 8.05L of water.
Add acid to water NOT other way around.

If you wanted 1 liter of 4% HCL, which will last a long time for a single person, you could add 110ml of the 36.2% HCL to 890ml of distilled water. That's what I do with my 37% HCL.

Note that the 4% HCL will get quite warm when you add the 36.2% HCL to the water. That is normal.

but just to recap to make sure i have it right before i start,

for1 ltr hcl 36.2% i would add the acid to 8.05ltr distilled water(does it have to be distilled water) or

i can make a litre at a time by adding 110ml of acid to 890ml water

disaster.... got the right dis water and hcl for litre, but fumes got me before i could get mms in can i put it in now or should i get rid and start again

I think you are saying the fumes from the 36.2% HCL were too much for you. I know what you mean and I do the HCL diluting outside and make sure the wind is blowing the fumes away from me. The fumes are very strong.

Once you have 1 liter of 4% HCL, you would then make One Bottle CDH by doing the following:

1. Put 220ml of water* in a glass bottle** of about 300ml size
2. Add 10ml of unactivated MMS to the bottle (22.4% sodium chlorite)
3. Add 10ml of 4% HCL to the bottle and immediately cap and shake the bottle of solution to mix well.
4. Put the bottle of solution in a dark, room temperature place for 12+ hours
5. You should now have a bottle of CDH with a nice yellow color
6. Store the CDH in a fridge if possible
7. Start hourly dosing at maybe 1ml per hour and work your way up

Hi Jeffers.

You should only be diluting your HCl now, NOT adding MMS to it at the same time.

After you have your HCl diluted down to 4% and nicely stored in a 1 liter bottle and put the cap on, you can later go on to make CDH or MMS or whatever.

Let's say you want to make 240ml of CDH.
You put 220ml of water into a glass bottle.
Then you add 10ml of MMS.
Then you add 10ml of your newly made 4% HCl.
You then cap the bottle tightly with a PLASTIC good sealing cap.
Then give it a good shake and store it in a dark place for 12 hours.
After that refrigerate for 2 hours and it's done.
