Dog with anal gland abscess was created by Sunny
Has anyone used MMS for above condition. If so what is recommended dose. The vet has prescribed Baytril 150mg. The abscess has cleared up a little but needs another 7 days of antibiotic according to Vet. Another question - if it is okay to use MMS is it advisable to give the Baytril at the same time. The dog weighs 25 kg and is 5 years old.

Welcome, Sunny. MMS clears bacterial and viral infections wherever they may be. It won't interfere with antibiotics. I would put 2 drops in his drinking water whenever you fill it - if you do that forever, he'll probably never be sick again. If you decide to 'doctor' him , the recommendation is for 1 drop/25# + an ounce or more of water. Distilled water is best, reverse osmosis water is next, tap water with chlorine should be boiled.
Please keep us updated.

Note: UV decomposes the mms, so his water bowl should be kept in the shade if you choose that method.

Thank you Paul I will start today. I was really concerned after my Vet visit today - as he said this can often recur. This is a rescue dog so don't know history with previous owner.

Are the 2 drops MMS only or 2 drops of MMS with 2 drops of citric acid?

Hi Bob. Yes activated or use CDS 1 ml . When the dog gets used to it, you can double it. Do you take it yourself?

HI SUNNY,

WHEN YOU HAVE CLEARED UP THIS PROBLEM, YOU MIGHT CONSIDER THIS PREVENTATIVE FOR ANAL GLAND PROBLEMS. I RECEIVED THIS INFORMATION FROM A BREEDER IN EUROPE WHO USES IT ON HIS LARGE BREED DOGS AND HASN'T HAD PROBLEMS IN YEARS. I ALSO DO THIS EVERY DAY AND ALL VET VISITS TO CLEAR THE GLANDS ARE A THING OF THE PAST!

MY DOGS ARE 50/60 LBS EACH. EVERY DAY THEY GET 2-3 ORGANIC PRUNES. FOR MINE, THEY ARE A TREAT AND THEY WOOF THEM DOWN. THEY ARE ALSO ON A RAW MEAT AND VEGGIE DIET AND GET BONES.(RAW ONLY, NEVER COOKED)
ADJUST NUMBER OF PRUNES ACCORDING TO WEIGHT AND STOOL SOFTNESS. GOOD LUCK!
