Funny, I've think I've discovered why you use distilled water....as I used tap water once and the sodium chlorite would not dissollve, so I heated it, still it seperated into powder at the bottom of the jar, and never smelled right. So, I am guessing that the minerals in the water bonded to the chlorite. One wasted batch! Buying distilled water isn't possible here, Zimbabwe, but most places have clear soft water from the lake.

MMS works in any water including filthy jungle water also according to Jim.
So...
maybe directions fr making MMS need to be reviewed.
MMS add warm water approx 145F to powder, stir till disolved. After 24 hours pour of skum at top and remove sediment at bottom is what I recall Jims process to be.

so, you think that the solution would only work for one thing and then it dies off?
It's strong enough to withstand lemon juice as an activator but not strong enough to withstand dirty water?
the "lake water" I am using is filtered. However, when I leave and the people here don't have access to my hotel room to get the filtered lake water they will have to use the water they get from buckets they get at the lake. There's a well, but it's a heafty walk up a hill, I would think it is hard water....guess I could try to mix it and see if it dissolves. I've decided that sodium chlorite is a great test to see if your water is hard!
