I try to activate (using 4% HCl) for 60 seconds, but sometimes I do a little less or more. What effect does it have to activate for longer or shorter?

I would think it would depend on the container that you're activating in. Does the liquid spread out over a large area? If it does, you're going to lose a lot of clo2 to the air. But if you activate in something small and narrow, like a thin vial, where there is little surface area on top for the gas to escape out of, then you will lessen the loss to the air a lot. Like an ounce of water in a narrow glass, an ounce of water in a bowl or an ounce of water spread out over the surface of a cookie sheet - which will evaporate more quickly?

Thanx, Shirley. I'm activating in a shot glass.
